Since the 19th century, archaeological excavations have been carried out on both sides of the Boucle du Rhône, between the departments of Ain and Isère. Many of the discoveries are related to burial sites, thus delivering furniture reflecting the life of the deceased.
These objects closely linked to appearance give rise to the temporary exhibition Parated bodies, revealed souls...
The museum’s collections are complemented by objects borrowed from the Musée des Confluences in Lyon, at Lugdunum – Gallo-Roman Museum and Theaters, and the Archaeological Museum of Briord.
