The Polish Library of Paris invites you to discover an exceptional collection of photographs retracing the life of Poles in France and Europe since the 19th century. Composed of daguerreotypes, portraits, family albums, landscapes, reproductions of works of art and historical documents, it offers a unique testimony to the cultural and artistic wealth of the Polish diaspora.
Among the treasures on display are portraits of iconic figures such as Adam Mickiewicz and his family, Władysław Mickiewicz, members of the Gałęzowski and Gronkowski families, as well as images by renowned Polish and European photographers. The photographs allow one to contemplate not only daily life and historical events, but also artistic creations, artists' workshops and urban and industrial architecture of the time.
This exhibition is an invitation to travel back in time, to explore the diversity of subjects and photographic techniques, and to appreciate the role of photography as art and as memory. It highlights the creativity and ingenuity of photographers while celebrating the history and culture of Poles in France and elsewhere.

    The Polish Library of Paris, the centre of Polish emigration since the mid-19th century, is the largest cultural institution representing Poland outside the borders of this state. It is located on the Île Saint-Louis, in the heart of Paris, in a magnificent 17th century building that houses works and archives of great value, as well as an important collection of works of art. Completely renovated and modernised at the beginning of the 21st century, the Polish Library of Paris welcomes readers and researchers wishing to deepen their knowledge of Franco-Polish relations and the history of Poland. Biegas and the Ukraine

Last day to discover the exhibition Biegas and Ukraine. Immerse yourself in the creative world of Bolesław Biegas, where sculpture, painting and formal experimentation meet to reveal the richness and singularity of his work. The exhibition highlights the diversity of his production and the strength of his artistic vision, offering an immersive journey through his creations.It also highlights the close ties Biegas had with Ukraine, where he stayed regularly and created several works, notably in Masłówka, with his patrons, the Barons Trutschel. Paintings, sculptures, photographs, fabrics and furniture produced during these stays testify to the intercultural dimension of his work and the artistic dialog between France, Poland and Ukraine.Curator: Anna Aurelia Bieniek

Round table "Gender and messianism"

Gender and messianism or how to think today of the romantic Revolution and the Great emigration through the prism of the place of women and other minorities in Slavic literature and in the political spiritualism of the Polish romantic paradigm. A discussion around Hubert Czerepok’s exhibition, “the recomposed past”, presented last year at the Polish Library in Paris and which raised still topical questions about the contemporary reading of great national narratives.Attendance:Agata Araszkiewicz, writer, researcher, art critic, feminist activist and doctor of Letters, attached to LEGS/Paris 8/CNRS and the Université Libre de Bruxelles. She is a member of the Council of the Association of the Congress of Women in Poland and co-organizer and honorary president of the Congress of Women in Belgium.Hubert Czerepok, visual artist, professor at the Experimental Cinema Department of the Academy of Fine Arts in Szczecin.Małgorzata Perigot-Grygielewicz, philosopher, philologist and translator. Professor at the École Européenne Supérieure de l’Image d’Angouleme, member of the Scientific Council and of the Sarah Kofman College of translators. The young pianist continues his training at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse (CNSMD) in Paris, in the class of Marie-Josèphe Jude, where he becomes the first blind student of the establishment. Laureate of numerous international piano competitions. He regularly performs in recital at the Institut national des jeunes aveugles in Paris and more recently at the Université Toulouse-Capitole. He also takes part in several festivals, among which the Musidora Festival or the "Musique dans la rue" Festival of Aix-en-Provence.
